Will it be worth it to put a turbo or any other kind of upgrades on a 230k miata engine?
I hear that the 1.6 and 1.8 liter miata engine is a overbuilt engine that would be great for after market parts and turbo, nitrous, etc,but will it cause any damages to an engine with 230k that drives just fine and even probably holds compression (don't know if does yet) I need to know if I would be better off replacing the motor with one that has around 40k-60k before i do all the after market stuff or if it would be ok just to use the motor i got (witch actually works just fine)
yes there are some fine installations availabel for the Miata, and while your engine may be running well I really do not recommend you consider forced induction (turbo or supercharger) with that mileage. These systems create even at low boost a lot of heat and stress and if there is any weakness at all in the stock internals (rods, pistons) or the heads there is a high possibility of engine failure.
For the Miata, in a low boost installation there is likely a better option than a turbocharger....bolt on supercharger.
Superchargers create the same power as a turbo and especially at low boost are preferable because:
-they are lighter (no pipes or plumbing)
-run cooler
-easier to increase power level in the event the engine is upgraded
-they deliver power earlier than a turbo and in a more linear fashion.
-cheaper and easier to install
For the Miata one of the a Kenne Bell twin screw is available (best in terms of early power delivery)

at a mild boost of 6p.s.i. this will give a Miata an increase in rwHP (hp where it counts - at the rear wheels, as measured on a dyno) of plus 55%, be serious quick.
do a search on youtube "supercharged miata" - likely lots of clips posted there
