The Zoo is Just a Figment of Your Imagination — March 31, 2010
Ohhh, the planets are still out of alignment. Despite all my careful planning, these past two days off still did not go as hoped!
Originally, Shane and I were to go to the Tyler Zoo on Monday, and then I planned to use Tuesday to catch up on stuff/be lazy (??), etc. before going back to work on Wednesday. We had it all worked out all the way down to the weather being perfect zoo weather! Then everything started falling apart. We exhausted all kinds of back-up plans….Plan A through Plan Z, and then some! I think we were about to fall into Plan A1, Plan A2…etc.
We had to move our zoo day to Tuesday, we realized, after Monday did not pan out well. Shane said he would drive, so David and I decided to get the A/C fixed on his car and he would drive my car at work, and I wouldn’t need a vehicle that day since I wasn’t driving to Tyler. Shane was en route to our house on Monday evening (so we could get an early start on Tuesday for the zoo), and then I get this phone call:
Shane:Â Do you hear those cars passing by?
Me: No, why?
Shane: I’m on the side of the road! I stopped for gas on the way and now my car is dead!
Yep, fuel pump. Dead! We were so close to actually moving forward in our itinerary too. I couldn’t believe he was actually on his way and then that happened.
So I was car-less for Tuesday and he was car-less for Tuesday and the zoo just seemed like it was a zillion miles away. I texted him and said that if I had a car for Tuesday, I’d just come to him for the day in Texarkana. He was like, “We can hope!” I said, “No!  Don’t hope! Hope it what got us in this situation in the first place!”
Luckily for us, David stepped in and saved the day. He was able to work it out where I got to have my car back on Tuesday, so off to Texarkana I went! Yay!
